LondonA bunch of UK marriage equality news today. First off, a group of supportive christians are holding a prayer day for equality, Gay Star News reports:

Christians who support marriage equality will be holding a prayer day on Sunday (3 February). Before the House of Commons votes on same-sex marriage in England and Wales on 5 February, pro-gay Christians will be praying for equality. Initiated by Christian writer and activist Symon Hill, he is asking for all supportive churches to pray for all committed, loving relationships at their Sunday services.

From Pink News, one marriage equality opponent claims as many as two-thirds of Tory MP’s might vote against marriage equality next week:

As few as one in three Conservative MPs will support the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill, in next week’s vote, according to Tory MP David Burrowes. Mr Burrowes, an equal marriage opponent, represents Enfield Southgate in north London. The Telegraph reports he has surveyed his colleagues’ views and says that up to 200 of the party’s 303 MPs could refuse to vote for the bill.

And Gay Star News chimes in again with a report of one conservative MP who sais her faith is her reason for a yes volt:

Helen Grant, MP for Maidstone in Kent, said religious people should believe in justice and fairness. Speaking ahead of the second reading of the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill debate on 5 February to political magazine The House, Grant said her faith is important to what she believes in politics. ‘I am a God-fearing woman,’ she said. ‘My faith is very fundamental to everything I do and think.

We’re moving quickly closer to the planned marriage equality vote on February 5th!
